I think the previous homepage was some large tiles of images and not much text. I prefer the new one because of the short summary that goes with each picture. I am from Toronto 🙂
A beautiful shot of a beautiful city! And I agree, Venice transforms once the visitors leave and give us a tranquil city to enjoy! I look forward to seeing more shots!
Yes, I’m living in Venice for a while so I’ve seen Venice at the height of the tourist season and over winter when it calms down. To me its the most beautiful city! Where will your travels take you next J??
haha, I visited your blog immediately after my previous reply and then realized that you are based in Venice … and I regretted questioning your experience at night 🙂 I envy you. My next trip is to Greece, but that’s about 5 months later.
Venezia…Visited twenty years ago and stayed in a charming pensione. The very same one that was featured in the movie Summertime with Katherine Hepburn. We strayed off the beaten path and found charm in every crevice. I cannot wait for the day I return to this beautiful city. Your photograph is enchanting.
Thanks, Kathy. I’m happy that this photo brings back good memories to you. And I think I’ll have to watch Summertime again and try to identify the place you’re talking about 😛
Brilliant photos of the canals. As Laura mentioned in the comments, it’s not often we see these dark shots of the canals. Frankly speaking, it doesn’t look scary at all. Love how the photos lights up in the middle, just brilliant 🙂
Beautiful. I don’t often see pictures of the Venice canals in the dark, but they look just as superb, if not better, and even more alluring.

Thanks, Laura! Most of the tourists have left by evening and Venice is very different at night indeed.

Totally agree with Laura….Photos of Venice at night seem to be rare and this one is particularly beautiful. Great job!

Thank you! btw, did you change the theme/template of your blog recently? Because I thought it looks different now … or perhaps I remember wrongly.

Good eye! I’m playing around with the themes a little bit…what do you think? The other one was more visual but this one is easier to read I think.

The dark, with the shadows and using B&W, gives such a different feel. Excellent!

My pleasure. Did you photo shop this or was it a trick of the light?

Besides converting it to black and white, I didn’t do any post-processing … because I’m not good with photoshop 🙂

There’s a special charm at night and it doesn’t feel dangerous like some European cities.
