Weekly Photo Challenge: Afloat

Torii Gate

Torii Gate

I’m excited to resume blogging after several weeks of shutoff from WordPress during my work assignment in China. I’m finally back home in Canada πŸ™‚

The theme for this week’s Photo Challenge is AfloatΒ and I’m submitting a photo of the iconic “floating” torii gate in Miyajima, Japan. It appears to be floating duringΒ high tide. The approaching storm and bright sky provided a good contrast and a dramatic effect (well, at least I thought so when I took the shot).

Love this shot, Jeremy. Very crisp, well done. The dark clouds do give the illusion a storm is brewing…and it got me wondering a random thought: will the torii gate still stand after the storm is over?

Hope you had a good time in China, and glad you’re back. More stunning shots from you πŸ˜‰

The combination of drawing clouds, the hills and water, with the vivid gate…all makes for a great picture. You should get this framed, I would πŸ˜‰
