Wooden inns along the Ginzan River, Japan. This is the place that inspired Hayao Miyazaki (宮崎 駿) in making the Academy Award-winning animated film “Spirited Away”. There is a nostalgic charm and it is magical at night, especially when it is snowing.
My response to the Weekly Photo Challenge: Inspiration … it doesn’t have to be my inspiration, does it?
Beautiful! I love the nighttime snow.

Hi Janet, actually I’m quite surprised that you’ve watched that movie because it is unlike those mainstream Disney or western cartoons which tend to be more popular 🙂

We have a daughter who is into mongo and other Japanese things. But we all enjoyed the movie greatly.

Beautiful shot. Just dark enough, and just light enough to give it a timeless feel. I suppose Miyazaki inspired you to take this shot in some way, so it’s your inspiration in some way 😜👌

Cool! I’m fan of Hayao Miyasaki’s work and Studio Gibli production. Do you have photos of this place inside?
Have a great week!
