Skulls of old monks who lived in the Monastery of the Great Meteoron (Greece). It chilled me to the bone. And, by the way, all their bones are on the bottom shelf … creepy enough that I had to hurry off and failed to compose the photo properly to include them!
My response to Weekly Photo Challenge: Creepy
wow! this is PERFECT for the topic.

Brilliant! I would probably have spent hours in there, photographing them from every possible angle and DoF! I love skulls and wish I had a spare one (not the one that’s obviously attached to the rest of my body) in my living room.

Hehe 🙂
There’s this church somewhere, I think that it’s in the Czech Republic or Poland, that’s made out of skulls and bones. I know that I just have to visit that place some day!

It chilled me to the bone by looking at this photo. Well done! Welcome back, Jeremy!
What an adventure you had. Hope you your batteries were cooperative 🙂

haha, you actually remember about my batteries! Luckily they have enough juice to last a few days. The trip does make me consider about upgrading to a weather-proof camera. Not that my camera is broken now, but I was reluctant to pull it out when it rained.

Wow. This is creepy and it looks like there is a bit of a hole in the middle of the photo. If you don’t like skulls, stay there a moment too long and you’ll probably feel like the “eyes” are burning into you. Surprised you didn’t bring your Amazon toy to ward off any evils 😉

So attentive to details, as always … the “hole in the middle of the photo” is actually the dark shadow of an overhead chandelier. The place was too uncomfortable for me to pay attention to that shadow. And the Amazon toy wouldn’t have made the situation any better 🙂

The “hole” really does look like a magic hole or black hole appearing to me eyes.
I am sure Danbo and my monkey side by side would have made you feel better there amongst those skulls 🙂

Knowing that more of their bones lie directly beneath adds a whole other level of creepiness.

All those skulls and I find the shadow …aberration..whatever is the creepy part.

I always feel uncomfortable with that dark shadow but I guess it adds to the creepiness.

What is that black splotch? A ghost?!

You are quite observant to notice that black splotch. It is quite disturbing for me too because I don’t remember seeing it when I pressed the shutter. I later realized that it is just the shadow of an overhead chandelier 🙂 That shadow is a flaw in the photo, but it does add to the creepiness.

When it adds so much it ain’t a flaw 😉
