Weekly Photo Challenge: Victory

Hasta la victoria siempre

Hasta la victoria siempre

The face of Che Guevara has become an iconic image, used as a symbol of protest as well as in pop-culture such as fashion accessories and street art. How can I leave Havana (Cuba) without a photo of the poster boy, right? When I took this shot, I did not pay attention to the words on the wall. It is a shame that I did not even realize that this is one of his most famous quotes!

Hasta la victoria siempre” translates to “Until victory always“.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Ornate

The Chicago Theatre

The Chicago Theatre

The ornate facade of Chicago Theatre. It’s a pity that I didn’t get a chance to go in. The interior design, with elaborate murals adorning the ceiling, is known to be just as ornate as the outside of the building.

Tokyo Apartments

No fences. Just walls. Everyone living within their clear-cut boundaries.

Weekly Photo Challenge: From Every Angle

DDP @ Seoul

DDP @ Seoul

The Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) is a landmark in Seoul, South Korea. The futuristic design provides multiple perspective points … offering plenty of photo opportunities from different angles.

The building features a shapely facade made up of aluminium panels of varying sizes and curvatures. Not everyone will appreciate this modern masterpiece, but I am certainly a huge fan.

From this angle, it looks as if a massive alien mothership has just landed.

It beckoned me to come back again in the morning for more shots!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Symbol

Santorini

Santorini

I just returned from vacation in Santorini (Greece) and I thought the blue domes are quite symbolic. Among all , this is probably the most photographed one and we stayed right beside it, literally! I don’t even need to use my zoom 🙂

Weekly Photo Challenge: ROY G. BIV

Rainbow Bridge

Rainbow Bridge

I think there are plenty of “rainbow bridges” around the world and I have seen quite a few already. This one is the Rainbow Bridge in Taipei City (Taiwan). Hopefully, it is good enough for Weekly Photo Challenge: ROY G. BIV … all the colors are present 🙂

Weekly Photo Challenge: Intricate

Casa Batlló

Casa Batlló

Barcelona offers a wide variety of colorful and intricate architecture created by Antoni Gaudí. Here is a relatively rare shot of the facade of Casa Batlló at night. This is my submission for Weekly Photo Challenge: Intricate

Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Circles and Curves

Marina City

Marina City

This is the facade of Marina City, which consists of two corncob-shaped towers. I love architecture and this iconic building in Chicago is one of my favorites.

The bottom 19 floors form an exposed spiral parking ramp. The 20th floor contains a laundry room with panoramic views, while floors 21 through 60 contain apartments. These apartments are unique in having almost no interior right angles. A 360-degree open-air roof deck lies on the 61st and top story.
