Lonely Tree

Piazzale Michelangelo @ Florence (Italy)

Piazzale Michelangelo offers a magnificent view over the city of Florence with the Tuscan hills providing a scenic backdrop. This is a popular place for sunset photos and I thought this tree is a good foreground but surprisingly no one even notices it. Perhaps understandable because there are so many important landmarks, including the Duomo (dome at the right), Palazzo Vecchio (tall bell tower) and Ponte Vecchio (bridge over river) getting all the attention.

Fishing Boats

Fishing Boats

The picturesque coastal village of Vernazza (Cinque Terre, Italy) is quiet during off-season, especially in the evening. I attempted to create a miniature and toy-like effect for these fishing boats.

He wants his reward, NOW!

Pop-art in the side street of Venice. This seems out-of-place in classical Italy, nevertheless I enjoy the dark sense of humor. Some people say that this is based on Antonio Canova’s 19th century sculpture “Perseus and the Head of Medusa”, while others say that this is based on Carvaggio’s 17th century painting “David with the Head of Goliath”. I think it’s the latter. This is my response to Weekly Photo Challenge: Reward
