Those street faucets in old European cities always appeal to me. I love the details. I tend to take my time to adjust the tap knob to capture the right dripping moment. Some curious tourists would look over my shoulder, wondering what I was playing with or what was so interesting. Apparently, most of them were unimpressed and turned away immediately, preferring to get a selfie shot instead!
My response to Weekly Photo Challenge: Close Up
You know, I am always amazed with how we used to care so much about intricate details. For this, screw minimalism.

Wow, fantastic shot. I love that you took the time to adjust the tap so you could catch the drip. Totally worth it!

Thanks for your compliments. I’m a naturally shy person and so it wasn’t easy for me to ignore the surrounding crowd (in a public place) and focus on a water tap! I’m glad you think it was worth it 🙂

Thanks, Desley. I used the M. Zuiko 17mm f/1.8 prime lens, and I think you have one too 🙂

Yes I do!! It’s my go-to lens. So you’re an OMD photographer as well? Or PEN?

I have the PEN. My next affordable upgrade is probably OMD EM-10, although it will be very nice to have EM-5 or EM1. But I shouldn’t be too obsessed about upgrading. The lens is more important the the camera body after all 🙂

People are strange, how could they turne away from this wonderful piece of art? It is a real beauty. Great photo, and I absolutely understand why you stop and took this photo.

Brilliant shot. Amazing. It must have took quite a few tries and playing around with that tap. It looks as if the droplet of water is a part of the faucet 😀 And it also looks like the “dragon” just had a bit of a drink 🙂

Yes, many tries indeed … which made me looked silly in a public place 🙂 A trick is to use the multiple sequential shooting mode, so that I have a higher chance of getting it right! It looks like a drooling duck or sipping dragon to me 😀

The angle, colors, details… are all perfect and beautifully presented in one photo. OMG, the water drop!!! “…capture the right dripping moment.”, you take the perfectionism to a new level!

I appreciate the effort, and it is a beautiful spigot, but it seems like you gave the dragon a drippy nose! 😀 (just a joke, hope you didn’t mind!)

I’m actually very thankful that you leave a comment because I knew there is a better word than “tap” or “faucet” but I just couldn’t recall … “spigot”, yes! I imagined it to be a drooling duck, so a drippy nose dragon seems more appropriate now 😀

LOL on the ubiquitous selfie Jeremy – and your spigot is a WONDERFUL choice for the challenge. Love that you took the time to catch the drip!

You are the second person to remind me the word “spigot” because I have been thinking hard what is the appropriate noun for this water fountain. I could only come out with “tap” or “faucet”. Limited vocabulary, haha. Thanks, Tina!

I confirm all what’s been said in the previous posts. Plus this one really made me smile, the drop makes the duck (or whatever that is) looks even madder.

;D Yes I do! Lucky me I found the very last laptop they had in stock! Too bad Internet is still down at home, but hey, can’t have it all at the same time I guess. At least I have a comp and a camera, so I can get going 😉 Next post soon ! Have a grande day dear
