Weekly Photo Challenge: Close Up

Street Faucet

Street Faucet

Those street faucets in old European cities always appeal to me. I love the details. I tend to take my time to adjust the tap knob to capture the right dripping moment. Some curious tourists would look over my shoulder, wondering what I was playing with or what was so interesting. Apparently, most of them were unimpressed and turned away immediately, preferring to get a selfie shot instead!

You know, I am always amazed with how we used to care so much about intricate details. For this, screw minimalism.

Thanks for your compliments. I’m a naturally shy person and so it wasn’t easy for me to ignore the surrounding crowd (in a public place) and focus on a water tap! I’m glad you think it was worth it 🙂

I have the PEN. My next affordable upgrade is probably OMD EM-10, although it will be very nice to have EM-5 or EM1. But I shouldn’t be too obsessed about upgrading. The lens is more important the the camera body after all 🙂

People are strange, how could they turne away from this wonderful piece of art? It is a real beauty. Great photo, and I absolutely understand why you stop and took this photo.

Brilliant shot. Amazing. It must have took quite a few tries and playing around with that tap. It looks as if the droplet of water is a part of the faucet 😀 And it also looks like the “dragon” just had a bit of a drink 🙂

Yes, many tries indeed … which made me looked silly in a public place 🙂 A trick is to use the multiple sequential shooting mode, so that I have a higher chance of getting it right! It looks like a drooling duck or sipping dragon to me 😀

The angle, colors, details… are all perfect and beautifully presented in one photo. OMG, the water drop!!! “…capture the right dripping moment.”, you take the perfectionism to a new level!

Thank you, Cee. Ideally, I wish I have a pretty floral shot to submit for this challenge, but you have set a very high standard with your regular flower photos. I’m a huge fan 🙂

I’m actually very thankful that you leave a comment because I knew there is a better word than “tap” or “faucet” but I just couldn’t recall … “spigot”, yes! I imagined it to be a drooling duck, so a drippy nose dragon seems more appropriate now 😀

You are the second person to remind me the word “spigot” because I have been thinking hard what is the appropriate noun for this water fountain. I could only come out with “tap” or “faucet”. Limited vocabulary, haha. Thanks, Tina!

I confirm all what’s been said in the previous posts. Plus this one really made me smile, the drop makes the duck (or whatever that is) looks even madder.

Thank you! And your compliment brings the smile back to me too 🙂 From your recent blogging activities, I assume you have a new Mac now? I’m glad I don’t have to wait 8 weeks for your next post …
